New Paths Psychotherapy

Making the decision to change or start something new is never easy, therapy included. Let me help you make the change you want in your life! I have been helping people do just that for over 14 years. My clients are adults of all genders & sexual orientations. It's been my experience that therapy works best when you and your therapist share a sense of trust & comfort. This helps increase motivation.

Primary issues treated are depression, anxiety, men’s issues, LGBT issues, sex and sexuality, gender and sexual orientation, grief, living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic health issues.

approach

Despite what you may sometimes think or believe or feel, YOU are the expert of your own life! I believe the role of a good therapist is to guide and navigate the individual to where they want to be and not where the therapist, or others, think the individual should be. This journey is done best when your therapist is nonjudgmental, provides a caring and accepting environment and can nurture a trusting and open therapeutic relationship with YOU, the client. I pride myself on fully integrating these beliefs and values into all aspects of my work. My theoretic approach to therapy is eclectic, based on your specific personal and emotional needs. I do have an interactive style of therapy with clients in sessions. Those who like that style will be particularly comfortable with me.

I am committed to a personalized approach to psychotherapy. My theoretic approach to therapy is eclectic, and it is always tailored to your special and unique needs. My favored approaches are cognitive, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal & relational. I am trained in harm reduction and motivational interviewing.

About the Practice

The individuals I work with are adults (18 and over) of all genders and sexual orientations. I have many years of experience working with members of the LGBT community. They are, and always will be, fully welcomed into my practice! My sessions with you are 50 minutes long and my standard fee is $140. I accept Aetna, Cigna, and Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield, insurance plans. I also work with those who have approved benefits for "out of network" providers. Otherwise, my clients pay by cash, check or credit/debit cards. Sliding scale fees are offered based on financial need. My office is conveniently located on a tree-lined street in the vibrant community of Astoria. It is easily accessible by several bus and subway lines.

Experience

With over 14 years of experience, I am committed to a personalized approach to psychotherapy.

I graduated from the Hunter College School of Social Work in 2003 and have been a New York State licensed clinical social worker since 2013. My work, volunteer and clinical experience has been among the varied populations and communities of New York City. I have worked with the LGBT and HIV/AIDS communities while employed at “Gay Men’s Health Crisis” and “AIDS Center of Queens County.” Additional employment includes the “Center for Urban Community Services.” I have experience working with the severely & chronically mentally ill, those with a history of homelessness and/or at risk of becoming homeless due to mental health and dual-diagnosed individuals. My clinical work incorporates my training in, and commitment to, harm reduction and a strengths-based approach to working with individuals of all backgrounds.
